Job Summary:

The Controller will plan and direct the accounting operations of MiCROTEC Corvallis. This person will play a key role in assisting the CFO in overseeing the company's financial well-being and creating and maintaining policies and procedures that support an efficient and effective organization. This person will need to roll up their sleeves in a rapidly changing, startup-style environment but will have an opportunity to make a huge impact. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting systems and principles (Accuracy) and be a strategic thinker with excellent soft skills (Communication), analytical skills (Analytics) and the desire to make things happen (Initiative). This position is perfect for a high-performer looking to grow their career and step into a Controller role. 


  

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the operations of the Accounting Department, which include Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Monthly Close process, Bank reconciliations, Revenue Recognition and Payroll.
  • Oversees creation and maintenance of accounting related training and policies to ensure compliance throughout the Company.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
  • Manage the GL and Monthly Close Process.
  • Assist CFO to manage the company's cash flow, including forecasting and optimizing liquidity.
  • Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards. 
  • Helps create and maintain costing systems to maximize control and margin performance.
  • Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance.
  • Assist in creation of the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget variances along with suggested actions plans to management.
  • Provides financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations and margin enhancement.
  • Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the audits as required.
  • Files quarterly and annual reports as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
  • Analyzes existing processes and recommends improvement as appropriate.
  • Assists in the preparation of the Company’s federal and state tax returns, by supplying outside accounting firms with financial statements, supporting schedules, and reconciliations, as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned. 


Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter and independent worker.
  • Ability to create processes from the ground up.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills and creative approach to problem solving.
  • Working knowledge of state and local taxes and payrolls taxes a plus.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, especially MS Excel.
  • Data-driven approach and high attention to detail; must be able to roll up the sleeves to dig through data and deliver actionable insights.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, pivot quickly and often, and continually build new processes as the company changes and scales.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in a financial management position.
  • Experience in hi-tech manufacturing environment preferred.


Travel Requirements: 

Potential for international travel one to two times per year at our locations in Vancouver, Canada and Bressanone, Italy. 


$90,000 - $120,000 DOE
