MiCROTEC Connect: Revolutionizing Wood Processing at Two Rivers Lumber

MiCROTEC Teams Up with Peak North America for the Next Generation of Sawmilling
MiCROTEC Connect: Revolutionizing Wood Processing at Two Rivers Lumber

In the summer of 2025, Peak North America, in collaboration with MiCROTEC, will install the next generation greenfield Two Rivers Lumber sawmill in Alexander City, Alabama.

MiCROTEC, will provide all scanning and optimization technology for the complete mill. Driven by MiCROTEC’s CT Log scanner, the MiCROTEC Connect solution will link each step of the process, allowing full traceability from log to final product.

A standout feature of the sawmill is the integration of Real Performance Machinery’s ProDog end dogger system and ProSaw gang with MiCROTEC’s CT Log. This combination, leveraging ProDog’s rotation and positioning capabilities, maximizes the CT Log’s full potential.

»We are so excited to release the full power of CT Log’s optimization capabilities by pairing it with RPM’s end dogger. The fact that each log can be optimized and sawn to its full potential with a minimum of positioning limitations, and to a much higher precision than traditional sawing equipment, makes this a match made in heaven. In this case, 1 + 1 truly does equal 3!«

The advanced scanning solutions for this project include MiCROTEC’s CT Log scanner, Logeye multi-sensor log scanner, Logeye Stereo 360° imaging system, Goldeneye Transverse lumber scanners, and integrated software and inline components, creating a fully connected mill. The MiCROTEC Connect solution, based on the CT-scanned logs, ensures that each log can be traced from virtual to real boards and that individual boards can be traced back to their original logs at each production step without any gaps.

»Simply put, MiCROTEC Connect allows tracking of every sawn product through each step of the production process back to its parent log, providing unprecedented insight into the sawmilling process. The true power of knowing how the value of each piece of lumber changes through the process is that it allows the mill to know exactly where the largest opportunities for value increases are.«

This project marks a significant advancement in the log breakdown process, starting from log optimization to secondary processing, all based on CT scanned logs. The strategic partnership with Peak North America showcases a new level of value and resource efficiency for the industry.

»We are excited to work with MiCROTEC to deliver what we believe will be the next generation of log breakdown technology, coupled with best-in-industry equipment for all other areas of the mill.«
