MiCROTEC is the technology leader in the field of opto-electronics for the timber processing industry and has been setting the standards in this market since 1980. Quite simply, there is no process in timber processing that cannot be rationalised, improved and speeded up with systems from MiCROTEC. The company’s exclusive focus and specialisation on timber and its processing have meant that MiCROTEC now dictates the direction that everybody else follows in this market. The company has over 20 engineers employed in research and development using the very latest systems and technologies and working at achieving continuous improvements in MiCROTEC products and enticing every last secret from timber.

MiCROTEC originates from and still has its head office in Brixen in South Tyrol, Italy, a region where timber processing has a long tradition. Over the years MiCROTEC has set several technological milestones and has undergone steady growth. This process has been helped by the branch offices of MiCROTEC Industrieautomation in Linz, Austria and MiCROTEC in Mestre near Venice. MiCROTEC has entered a close and fruitful strategic partnership with the leading system manufacturer, SPRINGER. This relationship was strengthened in 2000 when Springer purchased a holding in MiCROTEC. In 2005 Springer increased its holding to 70% of MiCROTEC’s equity. The relationship between the two is now even closer and every possible synergy is being exploited.

With a workforce of over 150, the MiCROTEC Group has a global turnover of over 25 million Euros.
