The log measurement DiSHAPE 100 obtains the certified calibration at Fiskarheden in Sweden

At Fiskarheden MiCROTEC has worked closely with Springer Maschinenfabrik in order to deliver its first log sorting line in Sweden. MiCROTEC has contributed in this project with PLC solutions for the automation, and the electrical and electronic engineering. At the sorting line, a log measuring system, DiSHAPE-100, has been successfully installed and certified, for the first time, by the Swedish calibration authority. In fact, DiSHAPE precisely calculates all necessary data for log sorting and relative procurement prices at a high performance level. The diameter logs accepted by the manufacturer vary from 14 to 60 cm and feature a length between 2,5 and 6m and are transported with ease at a pace of up to 200 m/min.
 
Accuracy requirements
Diameter measurement: the measurement values concerning diameter (+/- 2 mm for the single measurement and +/- 1 mm in overall measurements) were clearly below the allowed error margins as the maximum deviation on one single measurement was 0.4 mm and the deviation of the average value was an impressive 0 mm.
Length measurement: the measurement was executed with special calibrating bodies. The pieces were measured in total 200 times.
The average precision in measuring length was 0,3 cm, clearly within the range of the tolerated error margin of 1 cm.

At Fiskarheden the log measurement system, DiSHAPE, is part of the 3D log archiving system SCREENLOG-PLUS. The whole system has been updated with brand new LED technologies.
